Dog Training

Do you do one-on-one training?
Yes. Whether you need assistance with a particular behaviour issue or would like a private training lesson we offer one or two hour sessions to suit your needs.

Do you come to our house?
Yes we do. Depending on your individual situation we usually start the session at your home and may take a walk around your local area or to a nearby park.

What happens at a consult?
Usually when I first arrive we have a quick chat about the problem areas, I meet your dog and observe how you interact together and how your dog responds to me. Then we work through techniques to address the issues and you get a chance to practice them and of course ask any questions. Depending on the situation we may go our for a walk around the area or to a local park.

What times are available for a training and behaviour consult?
As I have commitments during the day and have pet sits or classes in the evenings the best time for a consult is over the weekend especially Saturday morning.

How bad does the behaviour need to be before you will come for a consult?
My suggestion is not to let the behaviour get bad at all and to call me sooner rather than later! It is much easier to address a potential problem behaviour before it becomes habitual or escalates than to try to deal with it later. In most cases we can put together a simple training plan that can easily resolve the issue. I can also provide one-on-one obedience training so there doesn't even need to be a problem behaviour to address.

What happens if the plan doesn't work or I need to ask a question?
You can call, email or text me at any time with questions, comments or if you reach a sticking point plus I LOVE to hear about the progress you are making. Sometimes all it takes is a 5 minute conversation to set you back on track.

Can you come back for a follow up visit?
Yes of course. Some problem behaviours take longer to rectify than others and we may need to address different issues in stages (i.e. dog re-activity). If I believe that follow up visits are required I will let you know during the first session. All follow up sessions are charged at a discounted rate.

Pet Sitting / Dog Walking

Do you have pets to stay at your house?
As I have three dogs of my own and my staff also have dogs we do not offer this service as it gets a bit too chaotic! Pet boarding is something I would like to do in the future but in the meantime we will provide top quality care for your pet in the comfort of your home.

I have never had a stranger stay in my house before. How do I now it's safe?
We know that it can seem strange to let a stranger stay at your house while you are not there. That is why we have full police clearances and insurance and can provide references on request. We also set up a meet and greet prior to the pet sit so you can meet us and be assured that we are responsible and will take care of your pet and home.

We will miss our pets while we are away. How will we know that they are OK?
We are more than happy to send you text or email updates of how your pet is going. We also post regularly to Facebook so you can see what a great time they are having and what adventures we get up too!

What do you do when it's hot outside?
We do not like to walk dogs if the temperature is higher than 35 degrees. Instead we can play with them at home and provide some company or for walking clients we can provide a credit. If the temperature is between 30 - 35 degrees we will try to find a shady park or go to the beach so your dog can keep as cool as possible.

Will you walk my dog in the rain?
A little rain is fine especially if they have a jacket to wear. We do ask that a towel is available so we can dry them off. We do our best to time the walks so that's its not wet but its not always possible.

Do you walk more than one dog at a time?
Yes if they are from the same family or by mutual agreement. We do not offer large group walks and would only recommend walking with another dog if that would be of benefit to both dogs and only with your consent.

Group Obedience Classes - Out & About Workshops

My dog is aggressive / reactive to other dogs. Would the Out & About Workshop be the right class for us?
If your dog is reactive to other dogs I will need to assess the dog first to make sure the class is suitable as we work in close proximity to other dogs and we don't want to put your dog under stress. Not all dogs are suited to learn in a class environment. I would suggest a one-one-one consultation first where we will put a training plan in place to work through the re-activity before considering joining a class.

What if we can't make one of the sessions?
You will still receive the notes from the missed session so that you can catch up and not miss out on any of the information. As we run with minimum and maximum number of dogs in each course it may not  be possible for you to make up the lesson. However I am happy to meet you prior to the start of the next class to cover off what you missed.

What happens if the minimum number of dogs is not reached?
You will be notified at least 24 hours prior to the start of the course that the course will not be running and have the option to go on the list to be notified when the next course will run. No deposits are required until after the minimum number of dogs has been reached.
